LIVINGSTrONGmD

In hopes of never-ending smiles, LivingStrongMD was founded in 2015 by Britney Colussi with a sole purpose in mind - to help alleviate suffering, promote happiness and pledge hope, for the children and their families at SickKids Hospital and Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto during the Holiday Season.

BRITNEY,

OUR FOUNDER

My name is Britney Colussi, and I am the founder of the LivingStrongMD Campaign. Ever since I can remember, I have been passionate about giving back to families who have children with a serious illness.

My inspiration comes from my cousin, Michael, who is the foundation of the LivingStrongMD Campaign. Being witness to what comes living with a seriously ill child and the seeing the toll that it takes on a family, I have channelled all my energy into helping other children and their families through this campaign.

I have been raising money for The Hospital for Sick Children & Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto in honour of my cousin, Michael - in hopes to help all children and their families to keep LivingStrong with a message that hope does not always have to feel like it's been lost and that they are not alone.

In addition, I am also an employee at The Hospital for Sick Children. Every day, I am inspired by the families and patients that I meet, the research that goes on, and the doctors that I support. It is due to both Michael and my experience at Sick Kids, that I am particularly passionate about giving back to the both of the amazing organizations of The Hospital for Sick Children & Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto.

MICHAEL,

OUR inSPIRATION

My cousin Michael gives me the strength to do all that I do. He has made me the person that I am today.

Having experienced first-hand the feelings and emotions of having someone close to me go through a serious illness, I am taking those experiences to help inspire hope and strength for all other families and children going through a similar experience. Witnessing all that it takes to keep a family together during these times and to never let the hope and strength fade away is what drives me to want to give these opportunities to families. I have, and will continue to do all that I can to spread smiles during the holiday season – a time when families need that ray of hope the most. I always want to keep the giving going, to keep hope alive for all other children and families.

I would describe what I do with my favourite quote from Dr. Seuss - Said by the most unlikely of heroes, the Grinch:

"maybe christmas doesn't

come from a store.

Maybe, Christmas

perhaps, means

a little bit more."
